A South African paddler living a dream…

500m K1

Today I produced the best performance in a sprint regatta of my career. I finished 3rd in a really competitive field. I managed to beat the 2006 500m K1 World Champion as well as many other classy paddlers. Adam won again, by about a boat length from Anders Gustavsen in second 0,2 seconds infront of me. This is the first time
I have won a medal in an international regatta and i am really happy about it.

As I mentioned in my post before the regatta, my parents were here to watch me race. It was really nice having their support and sharing this special moment with them. On Monday I will be back in Budapest and I will get back into hard training leading up to the 3rd World Cup in France in 2 weeks time.
