I am very pleased with how my racing went over the past two weekends. Last weekend I competed in the South African sprint champs and I won every race that I competed in. I won the 1000m K1 & K2, 500m K1, K2 & K4, 200m K1, K2 & K4 and the 5000m K1 &k2. The only race that I never competed in was the 1000m K4 but all in all I did a lot of good racing which is good training and preparation for the upcoming European World Cups. On the K2 side of things I teamed up with Mike Arthur for the 1000m, 500m and 200m and with Ant Stott (My K2 marathon partner) for the 5000m. I am very excited about the prospect of Mike and I in the K2. We are going to race the 500m K2 together this year and I really have a good feeling about this commbination. Mike is very fast (he won the 200m K1 at the SA selection last week) and is able to put a lot of power into the water, from the back of the K2. We have only paddled 4 times together and I believe that with some hard work, we can be very good.
Two weeks ago was the SA selections. The trial was raced in K1 only which was great as I got to race all the guys. It was awesome to see how many guys turned up for the selection and I am happy with the way I went. I won the 1000m fairly easily, with a 3 second gap from Cam Schoeman. The 500m was a tighter afair but managed to win by 0.9 seconds from Mike Arthur. Mike got his revenge though in the 200m and beat me into second by 0,01 seconds.
I am now back in Joburg for the next 3 weeks before I head to Europe for the Poznan and Szeged World Cups. I am vey excited to go to Europe and race again.

nice one.
